The Executive and staff of the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) operating branches are supported by various third-party advisory committees that have been established for one or more of the following purposes:

  • To provide a broad range of ideas and expertise as new policy initiatives are developed
  • To help the OSC understand how a specific, recently implemented policy is affecting capital market participants
  • To improve the OSC’s understanding of the concerns and issues faced by a stakeholder group on an ongoing basis.

The Investor Advisory Panel (IAP) is an independent advisory panel to the OSC. The IAP makes submissions in response to public requests for comment by the Commission on proposed rules, policies, concept papers, and discussion drafts. 

The IAP also provides comments on the OSC’s proposed annual Statement of Priorities, brings forward policy issues for consideration, and advises on the effectiveness of the OSC’s investor protection initiatives.
