Update on the OSC Whistleblower program
In 2018, the Ontario Securities Commission introduced new rules for a whistleblower program that incentivizes potential whistleblowers to come forward with information of serious cases of misconduct. Whistleblowers can receive up to $5 million for useful information. In March, the OSC made the first of such payouts, awarding $7.5 million to two whistleblowers. In this panel, OSC will present their new program, and panelists will discuss how it compares with other jurisdictions and where there is still work to be done.
