OSC in the Community (CARP Mississauga)
A multi-faceted initiative, OSC staff are travelling to communities across Ontario to both deliver investor seminars on fraud prevention while also meeting with local business, government officials, law enforcement and other community organizations which are impacted by the province's securities regulation.
The OSC in the Community investor seminar, entitled “Protect Your Money”, covers the following topics:
- Fraud prevention;
- Selecting and working with an advisor; and
- Making informed investment decisions.
Seminars are delivered by members of the OSC’s Office of Investor Policy, Education and Outreach and our Enforcement Branch.
OSC staff are also meeting with local business including representatives from:
- Local economic development corporations;
- Local chambers of commerce;
- Post-secondary institution commercialization groups; and
- Local advisors.
These business meetings have served to share information as well as receive feedback on issues facing local business such as efforts to raise and access capital in local communities and the broader capital markets.
